This Thai Buddha amulet features a common theme in Buddhism, the protective Naga or cobra keeping the Buddha safe from all obstacles.  In Tibetan Buddhism, Nagarjuna is the Buddha with Cobra, the historial Buddha is said to have had a protective cobra while he faoght Mara to gain enlightenment.
