Miracle Bodhi and Dzi Mala

  |
  • This past year we found an unopened box from Kathmandu that was almost 20 years old.  In it was a handful of spectacular 11mm bodhi seed malas.  You can look everywhere you want in Kathmandu right now and not find beads of this size and quality for this price.
  • DharmaShop founder, Sander Cohen, oiled and restrung the bodhi beads along with prehistoric mastodon fossil beads from Thailand.  He finished the mala with an incredible 3-eye true agate modern Dzi bead.  We can't help but be amazed by the wonder of this mala.
  • Stunning in depth and clarity, a caramel colored Dzi of this quality would be sold for thousands of dollars on its own.  Sander believes it to be one of the best modern dzi beads he's ever seen in 20 years of collecting.

Although it isn't ancient, this is one of the more exceptional Dzi beads made in the early 1990's.  It includes stunning agate occlusions and visible cinnabar dots, also known as bloodspots.  The three-eye Dzi is a popular design that is said to promote wealth, good health, success, compassion and glory.  The three eyes represent the three stars of luck: happiness, honor and longevity.

Bodhi seed beads can be used for counting all types of mantras as well as other prayers.  These dark-speckled seed beads have special meaning for all seekers of divine wisdom.  "Bodhi" in Sanskrit means enlightenment; as an "enlightened" seed, many practitioners use these malas for their essence and inherent teachings within each seed.

Mala measures approximately 35 inches around.  Bodhi beads are about 11mm.  Dzi measures just under 1.75 inches long and 0.5 inch wide.
