Bodhi and Tiger Dzi Enlightenment Mala

  |
  • This past year we found an unopened box from Kathmandu that was almost 20 years old.  In it was a handful of spectacular 10-11mm bodhi seed malas.  You can look everywhere you want in Kathmandu right now and not find beads of this size and quality for this price.
  • DharmaShop founder, Sander Cohen, oiled and restrung the bodhi beads along with two true agate modern Dzi beads.  We can't help but be amazed by the wonder of this mala.
  • It features a small round Treasure Vase, also known as Nectar Bottle, Dzi bead long with a Tiger Tooth Dzi hanging from the guru bead.  Sander believes these to be some of the best modern dzi beads he's ever seen in 20 years of collecting.

Bodhi seed beads can be used for counting all types of mantras as well as other prayers.  These dark-speckled seed beads have special meaning for all seekers of divine wisdom.  "Bodhi" in Sanskrit means enlightenment; as an "enlightened" seed, many practitioners use these malas for their essence and inherent teachings within each seed.

Tiger Teeth Dzi can assist the owner with concentration, determination, and completion.  It is also revered as a spiritual object, capable of keeping away evil things and bodily protection.  "Tiger Teeth" describes the design and style of dzi bead, they are not made from tiger teeth.

The Nectar Bottle, or Treasure Vase Dzi motif is the focus of all goodwill and gathering of auspiciousness and general fortune.  This bead can assist the owner in achieving the good things of life.

Mala measures approximately 37 inches around.  Bodhi beads are about 11mm.  Treasure Vase Dzi is about 0.75 inch, Tiger Tooth Dzi is about 2 inches.
