Boudha Prosperity Antique Bodhi Mala

• This true antique bodhi seed mala was purchased directly by DharmaShop founders, Sander and Christy, on their trip to Kathmandu in October of 2019.  These are the smallest bodhi beads that we currently have in our collection!
• Made of 108 small, well used dark bodhi beads.  Each bead is rich in color with a beautiful sheen as well as its own shape and texture.  Mala has been restrung in recent years on red cord in the traditional manner with long simple dangles that have been tied.
• These dark-speckled seed beads have special meaning for all seekers of divine wisdom.  "Bodhi" in Sanskrit means enlightenment; as an "enlightened" seed, many practitioners use these malas for their essence and inherent teachings within each seed.

The story behind this mala is one of our favorites!  On their trip to Nepal in October 2019, DharmaShop owners, Christy and Sander Cohen were walking a kora around the Boudhanath stupa when they saw an individual seller with a variety of bodhi seed malas.  As they began talking with the seller, monks from the nearby monastery came by and they discussed the beautiful quality of the beads.  With some helpful encouragement from the monks, Sander and Christy went on to purchase a few of these antique bodhi malas from that seller.

Mala measures approximately 39 inches around.  Beads are about 9-10mm.  Comes with a DharmaShop keepsake bag!
