She was very thrilled with the necklace. I think her mother squirmed a bit when I explained the symbolism, but I assured them I wasn't evangelizing and seemed to be all good. My niece thought it was great that I gave her jewelry that actually meant something. That and she's 13 y/o, and was thrilled to get "real" jewelry. Aside from all this, it's just good Karma to help out artisans in a fair trade perspective. A mitzvah if you prefer.
