PAIR IT WITH

  • An etched singing bowl handcrafted by 4th and 5th generation singing bowl artisans in the Kathmandu Valley exclusively for DharmaShop.
  • Designed by the DharmaShop team with our friend Brook, a local Michigan tattoo artist, this bowl features a detailed Citipati skeleton dance design.
  • The skeleton dance is a sacred Tibetan ritual found in Himalayan Buddhism.  The Citipati skeletons are a pair of lovers whose dance represents the liberation and enlightenment that comes from accepting our impermanence.

Citipati is a protective deity shown in the form of a skeleton who are fierce protectors of the dharma.  They serve as a symbol of death and rebirth, and a reminder of the impermanence of life.  The Citipati remind us to live in the present moment; because nothing is permanent, everything is possible.  Despite their dark appearance, they actually represent perfect awareness and a joyous freedom from attachment.
