Antique Bhaktapur Bodhi Mala

  • This amazing bodhi seed mala was purchased directly by our team on their last trip to Kathmandu.  It has a vibrant energy that you can truly feel when holding the mala and comes with a vintage mala bag.
  • Made of 108 small, well used dark bodhi beads.  Each bead is rich in color with a beautiful sheen.  They have a slight red tint to them that is especially unique.  Strung loosely on yellow cord, making it great for counting mantras.
  • These dark-speckled seed beads have special meaning for all seekers of divine wisdom.  "Bodhi" in Sanskrit means enlightenment; as an "enlightened" seed, many practitioners use these malas for their essence and inherent teachings within each seed.

On their trip to Nepal in March, DharmaShop owner, Christy Cohen, with our photographer and product specialist, Erica, acquired this mala from a Tibetan gentleman in the ancient city of Bhaktapur.  He had a small, yet beautiful collection of vintage and antique bodhi malas from which Christy and Erica were able to source only a few special pieces.

Mala measures approximately 44 inches around.  Beads are about 10-12mm.  Includes vintage mala bag from Nepal.
