This one-of-a-kind traditional bodhi seed mala was purchased directly from a monastery in Nepal. It has been a part of the DharmaShop's personal collection for years. These 108 wood bodhi seeds are truly stunning as each bead is unique and has been cut slightly on each end, making them flat in the traditional manner. Simply strung and finished with a guru bead on dark brown cord.
Bodhi seed beads can be used for counting all types of mantras, as well as other prayers, prostrations, circumambulations, and so forth. It was while meditating under a bodhi tree that Prince Siddhartha attained enlightenment and became the Buddha. The dark-speckled seeds from this fig tree thus have special meaning for all seekers of divine wisdom. "Bodhi" in Sanskrit means enlightenment; as an "enlightened" seed many practitioners use these malas for their essence and inherent teachings within each seed.
The 108 beads are approximately 13-14mm. Measures approximately 44 inches in circumference.
