Himalayan Stoneware Mug

• Handmade in the ceramics district of the ancient city of Bhaktapur by a family operated artisan group whose craftsmanship and techniques have been passed down for generations.
• Using locally sourced red clay, each mug is thrown by hand using a traditional potters wheel before being dried under the Himalayan sun.
• Each mug is bisque fired before being coated with lead-free, non-toxic glaze and fired for a second time to become stoneware, the most durable form of earthenware.

If you've ever stopped for coffee or tea in Bhaktapur, there's a good chance you've held a mug just like this one. Their familiar geometric shape and comfortable size are a staple in coffee shops throughout Nepal, and we loved them so much that we worked directly with our ceramics artisans to create our own.

After nearly two years developing what we believe is the perfect mug, they've become the ones we reach for every day in the DharmaShop office. Color:

Stone is a creamy white glaze with warm undertones. Soot is black in color with a hint of earthy undertones. The bottom portion of the mug showcases the natural Himalayan clay. 10 oz size.

Marigold is a warm, muted golden-yellow glaze inspired by the marigold flowers found throughout Nepal, with delicate Stone and Soot speckles scattered across the entire mug, including its natural Himalayan clay base. 14 oz size.

Care:

Each mug is food, microwave, and dishwasher safe. However, we recommend hand-washing as it will extend the life of your pottery.

Soot & Stone measures 3.5" at the base, 2.75" at the top, and is 3.5" tall.

Marigold measures about 4" at the base, 3.75" at the top, and is 3.5" tall.
