Bone and Skull Impermanence Wrist Mala

22 reviews   |

  • A DharmaShop best seller, this wrist mala was inspired by our 108 bead impermanence mala that has been a customer favorite for almost a decade!
  • Made with naturally stained water buffalo bone beads and 2 carved bone skull accents, this bracelet is an amazing way to reflect on impermanence in your daily practice.
  • The skull in Buddhism is often recognized as a symbol of impermanence.  It is a powerful reminder to be here now and to live in the present moment; because nothing is permanent, everything is possible.

A note about bone beads:  In the Himalayas, it is typical for large animals such as yak or water buffalo to be used for service, food, clothing, and ritual items.  Given the limited amount of resources and the religious practices of the people in the region, it is important that none of the animal goes to waste.  These amazing bone beads are handcrafted by artisans who recycle and reuse everything in daily life and spiritual practice.

Adjustable wrist mala measures just under 6.75 inches around when fully tightened and opens to about 9 inches.  Beads are about 8mm, skull beads are 10-12mm long.  Handmade in Nepal.

Defines impermanence (in a good way)

I bought this in July 2019 and have never taken it off. Though starting out as the color shown, it is now almost completely white. I attribute this to my being often outside for hours a day in the hot Florida sun or in the ocean. This is definitely not a critique! On the contrary, it embraces the concept of impermanence and helps me realize that on a daily basis.
