Antique Longevity Dzi Bead - Caramel Phum Agate

For over 20 years, Sander has collected Dzi beads of all ages and designs during his travels, sourcing pieces from trusted friends and collectors across Nepal, Bhutan, Taiwan, and beyond.
• Believed to be the oldest of the Dzi, Phum beads are estimated to be 1,000 years old or more. Dzi of this age and authenticity are rare, and we typically only have a few in our collection per year.
• The beads pale coloring is a particularly rare and special feature, giving it a luminous, unique quality that sets it apart from darker Dzi.

One end of the bead is chipped, a mark we absolutely love; it's believed that fragments of old beads were often used in traditional Tibetan medicine. This is considered auspicious, reflecting both authenticity and the heritage of the piece. These "imperfections" are what make this bead so incredibly special. This is what modern Dzi beads strive to emulate, and here it is in its original form.

Dzi beads are believed to offer protection for the wearer. The Longevity Dzi features a dark tortoise shell pattern and is also referred to as a "turtle back" Dzi. This design represents a long and happy life. It is known to improve health and healing while protecting from sickness and negativity.
