Bodhi seed beads can be used for counting all types of mantras as well as other prayers. These dark-speckled seed beads have special meaning for all seekers of divine wisdom. "Bodhi" in Sanskrit means enlightenment; as an "enlightened" seed, many practitioners use these malas for their essence and inherent teachings within each seed.
Mala measures about 42 inches around. Beads are approximately 13-14mm.

In the course of years of practice, I ended up with many malas from India, Tibet, Japan and elsewhere. I have many really nice ones but when I received this Dark Bodhi Seed Mala from Dharma Shop, this suddenly became my #1 and favorite. First when I opened the package, my impression was that the color of the beads are not as dark as it shows on the website and no luster on them. Rather looked very dry. I’ve contacted Dharma Shop and chatted with one of the customer service. They were very quick to respond and gave me a good explanation and tips for a good care. Then I understood that this is a brand new mala no one has used. Therefore no oil from fingers were on it and the beads are raw. I started using it as I chanted mantra, immediately the color of beads started to change as if they are alive. Dried up look disappeared and started to shine. I was suggested to treat beads with oil to moisten beads for long lasting protection. I’ve taken avocado oil on my fingers and rubbed each and singled beads and wiped with paper to absolve excess oil and let them dry. The deeper color of the Bodhi seed started to appear and it is very beautiful. I’m sure that more I use, it will darken the color and becomes more mine. The size of large beads are very easy to count. The tightness of the string is just right. The energy was very neutral since it wasn’t anybody’s and now filled with my own energy. I get many complements when I wear it around my neck. It just looks robust and good. I’m extremely happy that I purchased this mala and recommend to anyone who like the authentic look and usability of this Dark Bodhi Seed Mala from Dharma Shop. Namaste!
