Fish Padlock

2   |

On one of our trips to Nepal, we started noticing these amazing fish padlocks everywhere!  They were used for locking homes, monasteries, and shops.  We searched far and wide and finally found a few great examples of these padlocks.  Sturdy and heavy, these locks are cast, etched, and painted by hand in Kathmandu.

Size:7 inches long

Really cool!

This is a really cool piece of functional art. It's bigger than I expected. The fish's main body is about as big as my palm. There's a neat little trick to open it. I'm giving it as a gift to a fisherman. Overall it is a beautiful, detailed, and sturdy lock.
