Deity Prayer Flags

16   |
  • A beautiful set of hand printed prayer flags from Kathmandu, Nepal.
  • Features Windhorse and deity designs surrounded by the mantras and symbols associated with that deity.
  • Includes Windhorse (yellow), Guru Rinpoche (blue), Chenrezig (white), Amitabha (red), and Green Tara (green).

A Wind Horse is symbolic of the mind and the wind is its vehicle, therefore it can be ridden upon.  This means that we all have the possibility of controlling the mind and can guide it towards any direction at any speed we wish.

Guru Rinpoche, also called Padmasambhava, is known as a character of literature and knowledge.  Padmasambhava was a historical teacher who is said to have finally converted Tibet to Buddhism.

Recognized as the embodiment of compassion, Chenrezig is one of the most renowned and beloved deities throughout the Buddhist world.  Tibetans believe that every person whose heart is moved by love and compassion expresses the activity of Chenrezig.

Amitabha represents love and compassion, and is often depicted sitting on a lotus throne with his hands in the dhyana mudra.  As head of the Lotus family, he represents gentleness and openness.

Green Tara is known as the Buddha of enlightened activity, filled with youthful vigor.  She is the fiercer form of Tara, but is still a savior-goddess of compassion.  In Buddhist religious practice, Green Tara's primary role is savioress.

Set includes 10 flags that measure approximately 8 inches by 6 inches.  Full strand is about 7 feet long.  Made of 100% cotton.
