Naga Shell Mala with Tibetan Counters

  |
  • DharmaShop founder, Sander Cohen, helped design this 108 bead mala alongside of our artisans in Kathmandu.
  • It's made with and incredible combination of naga shell beads, carnelian spacers, inlaid naga shell markers, and a bodhi seed guru bead.  Features a set of bell and dorje Tibetan mala counters and is finished with a gold-plated brass Cheppu pendant.
  • Sander actually sourced these amazing pendants on his last trip to Taiwan and brought them directly to our mala maker in Nepal, making this a truly exclusive DharmaShop design!

Cheppu, known as the mask of protection, can be seen at the main entrance of many stupas and homes as a protection from all dangers.  The naga/conch shell represents the fame of the Buddha's teaching which spreads in all directions like the sound of the conch trumpet.  It is a symbol which fearlessly proclaims the truth of the dharma.

Mala measures approximately 38 inches around.  Naga and carnelian beads are 8mm, naga marker beads are 12mm.  Cheppu pendant is about 1/2 inch tall and 3/4 inch wide.
