Bodhi Compassion Mala

  • This authentic 108 bead mala is made with beautiful dark bodhi beads and a white metal mantra bead.  It features the mantra of compassion, Om Mani Padme Hum, in Tibetan script.
  • Wearing or meditating with this mala will remind you to be compassionate and kind.  The larger size of these beads can be very satisfying for counting.  When not in use, it can be wrapped 3-5 times loosely around most wrists.
  • Simply strung on heavy cotton cord and finished with a bodhi guru bead.  Handmade by Tibetan artisans in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Bodhi seed beads can be used for counting all types of mantras as well as other prayers.  These dark-speckled seed beads have special meaning for all seekers of divine wisdom.  "Bodhi" in Sanskrit means enlightenment; as an "enlightened" seed, many practitioners use these malas for their essence and inherent teachings within each seed.

Mala measures about 39 inches around.  Beads are approximately 13-14mm.

Overall: Fine. Easy transaction, fast shipping, well packaged blah blah blah... But let's get down to brass-tax: These are serious beads. Weighty, beautiful; just to hold them is a responsibility in-and-of itself. Unless you're seriously idiotic I wouldn't even consider these for any sort of ornamental or fashionable purpose. Yes, you might look "cool" like what's-his-face... But face facts: You'd just be a poseur and -- worse yet! -- you might do some serious damage to yourself on a psychic level* *(and if you don't believe such things, there is your answer.) At any rate: To wear and use these is to connect to a tradition that connects us to the very origins of what it means to be human (while at the same time transcending that humanness.) Ergo: It can be formidable (even scary) as it forces us to confront our very nature. And for that we should be grateful. Equally, I am grateful for Dharmashop for their making these available, as well the overall work they do. IMPORTANT NOTE: I had to cleanse these with white sage before incorporating them with my practice. Not for any weird mojo or any some such, but because they were indeed "heavy" when I began including them in my meditation; could have been the "weight" of travel, or any number of things. But once they were cleared, they've proven an excellent tool in my daily practice.

Bulky beads with the feel of history

I did not expect the beads to have such a full size to them. I’m used to smaller beads, such as 8mm, but these are significantly larger. While the size was originally something I was concerned about, I’ve found these to be my favorite mala so far. They are very much a statement because of their size, but it’s something I wear proudly. I’ve also found that the larger beads make me feel closer to my practice. And the fact that money goes back to Tibet is a feel good. Absolutely would recommend these.

Wonderful Mala!

This Mala has such beauty. The Bodhi beads are nicely colored and sized. It is wonderful to count these sized beads for mantras. This Mala makes you feel connected with the mantras you recite. I can’t say enough how much I love this Mala! Again, another wonderful piece that DharmaShop offers.
