Traditional Prayer Flags Set of 10

95 reviews   |
  • One of our best-selling sets of handmade prayer flags from Kathmandu, Nepal.
  • Set of 10 flags featuring 5 designs including: Guru Rinpoche, Green Tara, Wind Horse, White Tara and a smaller traditional Wind Horse design.
  • The flags are the traditional colors of yellow, white, red, blue, and green.

Guru Rinpoche, also called Padmasambhava, is known as a character of literature and knowledge.  Padmasambhava was a historical teacher who is said to have finally converted Tibet to Buddhism.  He was a renowned scholar, meditator, and magician, and his mantra suggests his rich and diverse nature.

Green Tara is known as the Buddha of enlightened activity, filled with youthful vigor.  She is the fiercer form of Tara, but is still a savior-goddess of compassion.  In Buddhist religious practice, Green Tara's primary role is savioress.  She is believed to help her followers overcome dangers, fears and anxieties, and she is especially worshipped for her ability to overcome the most difficult of situations.

In Buddhism, the horse is symbolic of energy and effort in the practice of dharma.  It also symbolizes the air, or prana, which runs through the channels of the body and is the vehicle of the mind.  A Wind Horse is symbolic of the mind and the wind is its vehicle, therefore it can be ridden upon.  This means that we all have the possibility of controlling the mind and can guide it towards any directly at any speed we wish.

White Tara sits upon a lotus blossom, representing compassion and healing.  The lotus flower represents purity and fortune.  She is associated with long life.  Her mantra is often chanted with a particular person in mind.  She’s another representation of compassion, and she’s pictured as being endowed with seven eyes to symbolize the watchfulness of the compassionate mind.

Set includes 10 flags that measure about 8 inches tall and 6 inches wide.  Full string is approximately 7 feet long.  Made of heavy cotton.

We love our prayer flags. They are a great daily reminder to put good into the world every time we see them moving with the wind.

We were pleased with the prayer flags and I actually purchased two sets of ten and we could have used some more. I may order more later. Thanks, Cecil

Traditional Prayer Flags

I've not put these out yet but I did give 1 set as a gift to a neighbor. This is the second purchase I made of prayer flags. The first group are still in use out in my garden. They still look bright and colorful after a Vermont winter.
