From our DharmaShop curated collection, this mala was hand selected from an antique Bodhi Seed seller just outside of the Boudhanath temple. Here you can see monks from nearby monasteries meditating with similar mala beads.
Collected from the Kavrepalanchok District—one of the only places in Nepal to produce Bodhi seeds—this mala comes from a family who has traded and treasured these beads for generations. Kavrepalanchok is also the hometown of the head of our DharmaShop Nepal team!
Restrung in recent years on dark brown cord with an extra two beads on the toggle strings, this mala is a tool and teacher for those seeking a companion for deep spiritual work. The subtle speckling, the organic sheen, the individuality of each seed, these are the marks of age, authenticity, and history.
Since every antique Bodhi mala is completely unique, the model photos may feature a different piece from our collection. We've included them as a reference for size, drape, and the different ways your mala can be worn or used in practice. The studio photo shows the exact one-of-a-kind mala you will receive.
