108 Bead Yak Bone Mala with Lapis and Traditional Tibetan Beads

3   |

108 yak bone bead mala features gorgeous traditional Tibetan beads with hand inlaid pieces of turquoise and coral, as well as lapis and pressed turquoise marker beads, finished with a hand carved skull guru cap bead.

Lapis is said to promote self awareness, enlightenment and open the mind to all possibilities.  It stimulates the desire for knowledge, truth and understanding, and aids the process of learning.  The skull in Buddhism is a symbol of impermanence and is a powerful reminder to be here now!

A note about bone usage:  In the Himalayas, it is typical for large animals such as yak or water buffalo to be used for service, food, clothing, utensils, and ritual items.  Given the limited amount of resources and the religious practices of the people in the region, it is important that none of the animal goes to waste.  These amazing bone beads are handcrafted by artisans who recycle and reuse everything in daily life and spiritual practice.

Measures approximately 33 inches around.  Yak bone and lapis beads are 8mm, Tibetan beads are 10mm, turquoise spacers are 6mm, and the skull bead is 12mm long and 10mm wide.  Handmade in Nepal.

Good Practice Mala

Very pretty and well-crafted mala. The bone beads are smooth and fit my fingers . I am very pleased with the quality of this and other malas purchased on this site.

Yak or dri, these bone are the same to me :-)

This mala is fantastic. I've had other bone malas, but this one is superior. My most recent mala was a bodhi seed one that received millions of recitations and was very worn out, and once the guru bead broke, it was time for a new one. At just over 50,000 recitations, this new yak (or dri?) bone mala is functioning beautifully and with great comfort -- it is certainly magnificent to see, but also just as wonderful to use.

Feeling blessed to have found the Dharma Shop

Absolutely love my purchases!!! My 108 Yak Bone Mala with Lapis is perfectly gorgeous! When I'm wearing it I envision a protective white light surrounding me & the weight of the Mala feels like a gentle hug. I am also very pleased with my Naga Shell & bone bracelet and Redwood, turquoise and Naga Mala! Delivery time was very speedy. And I'm proud my purchase helps the Tibetan artisans, a purchase with a purpose. Now my teenage daughter is asking for a Mala of her own. Time to shop ;)
