The Bone Mala of the Day 3-8-12 has become the one I go to for long, soul-searching sessions. It is so solid and purposeful in the hand. At first, I had some trouble counting effortlessly as one expects to because the bone disks are thinner than a regular-size mala bead, and the cross-section of the disks make them a bit unwieldy to slide across the fingers. However, frequent use overcame that initial distraction. I have always wanted a serious mala like this one with counters, and I do find the counters helpful in the sense of quietly encouraging my persistence toward a steady calm. I suggest you consider adding this one to your practice.
