This Manjushri is carved entirely by hand, then cast using the lost wax method. Over eight artists work on carving, making wax molds, pouring hot bronze, and hand painting the gold faces and eyes on a statue like this. It takes Meenu Shakya herself months to complete a statue with such intricate hand painted details.

Manjushri is known as the deity who eliminated ignorance and opposition to the Dharma. He and his mantra represent wisdom. He holds a sword in his right hand that symbolizes his ability to cut through delusion. His left hand, close to his heart, holds the stem of a lotus flower.
