Medicine Buddha Singing Bowl

9 Reviews   |

  • This handmade singing bowl is hand cast in Patan just outside of Kathmandu, Nepal.  It is hand painted and finished by a master thangka painting artist.
  • The mantra of the Medicine Buddha wraps around the outside along with an image of Medicine Buddha inside.
  • The Medicine Buddha is a deity of compassion and healing.  He is believed to alleviate suffering for mental and physical illness.  Often his image is shown with rays of lapis lazuli light radiating from his crown.

The mantra reads, "Om Bekandze Bekandze, Maha Bekandze, Radza Samudgate Soha."  This translates to, "May the many sentient beings who are sick, quickly be freed from sickness.  And may all the sicknesses of beings never arise again."

Measures approximately 4.5 inches in diameter and 2.5 inches deep.

All sound recordings are made by striking the bowl once with our Handcrafted Red Wool Mallet!

Stunning bowl, beautiful sound!

I gifted this handmade bowl to my father for Christmas and he has been loving it! Contacted the shop to get the mantra inscribed on the bowl as I could not find it, and they got back to me efficiently with helpful information! Shipped quickly and remarkably made product! Beautiful!

Small but lovely

I was amazed at the loveliness and depth of sound from this bowl given that it is not very expensive. After purchasing I realized I shouldn't have bought it. I suddenly needed to give it to a friend taking a meditation class. He didn't know what it was! But when I took the mallet and tapped it he leapt up with joy and hugged me. He works with men in recovery and I hope they will like it too.

Medicine Bowl Singing Bowl

Of course the paint and the plating leaves the resonance somewhat muted. However the mantra, images and gold plate band are on it for a reason. My overall experience using it is far from complete, but I am certainly glad I have it. Singing bowls are not the only musical experience I have had, and they all get better with practice.
