Skull Bone and Inlaid Bodhi Seed Wrist Mala

12 reviews   |
  • This eclectic and bold wrist mala makes for a very unique accessory!
  • Made with bodhi seed beads and naturally stained bone beads that have been inlaid with pieces of brass, copper, silver, coral and turquoise chips.  Also features hand carved skull-shaped spacers.
  • Bone beads, and the skull beads especially, allow us to further reflect upon the Buddhist teachings of impermanence.  They serve as a reminder to live in the present moment and be here now; because nothing is permanent, everything is possible.

A note about bone usage:  In the Himalayas, it is typical for large animals such as yak or water buffalo to be used for service, food, clothing, and ritual items.  Given the limited amount of resources and the religious practices of the people in the region, it is important that none of the animal goes to waste.  These amazing bone beads are handcrafted by artisans who recycle and reuse everything in daily life and spiritual practice.

Adjustable wrist mala measures approximately 6.75 inches around when fully tightened and opens to about 10 inches.  Bodhi beads are 12-13mm, bone beads are 10mm, skull spacers are 12mm by 8mm.  Made in Nepal.

Detailed work, well made

Recipient loved it. I wrote up a short piece about the Tibetan nomads, who carve the **** beads, taken from the information on the Dharma Shop site. And added information about bodhi seeds representing "enlightenment" . This was added to card in which I put the mala - the recipient loved it.
