This beautiful and antique feeling mala is made with 108 polished, disk-shaped bone beads that have been hand soaked and stained with tea. Each bead is unique and completely one-of-a-kind. Mala features a large guru bead and is hand strung on black cotton cord.
A note about bone beads: Tibetan nomadic life is hard, and in the cold there is little to eat. Yak and water buffalo are main staples in Nepal and Tibet, and when an animal is used for food nothing is wasted. These amazing bone beads are handcrafted by artisans who recycle and reuse everything in daily life and spiritual practice.
Mala measures approximately 24 inches around. Beads are about 12mm, guru bead is about 20mm. Tassel is 1 inch. **Due to the natural and handcrafted element of the bone beads, sizes may vary slightly.**
